Frosty Pup Paws

Now that it appears that summer may be thinking of arriving, here's a great recipe for summer treats for your dogs (and they are edible for humans as well).

Home Made Frosty Paws

32 oz. vanilla yogurt
1 mashed banana or one large jar of baby fruit
2 Tblsp. peanut butter
2 Tblsp. honey

Blend all together and freeze in either 3 oz. paper cups or ice cube trays. Microwave just a few seconds before serving.

I also make this with baby meat instead of the fruit and peanut butter and the dogs REALLY like this version, although I'm not so sure I want to taste it.

Leapin’ Liver Treats

Raw Liver, maybe a pound or so.
Oatmeal
Cornmeal (can be omitted)
1 Egg
Canola Oil, a few Tbsp
Granulated Garlic, a few tsp

Add Liver, Egg, Oil, and garlic to food processor and blend till it's a paste. Add oatmeal/cornmeal until the consistency becomes that of a cookie dough.

Spray a cookie sheet with nonstick spray. Pat out dough on sheet approx 1/4 " thick... bake until firm.

Let cool. Cut or break off into treat size pieces. Keep extra treats refrigerated.

 Will keep for 7 days.

Elaine’s Liver Brownies

1pound liver
1 tsp pureed garlic
1 package Lipton Dry Soup Mix--either onion, onion-mushroom, beefy onion
2 eggs
3 Cups Oatmeal

Puree liver in a blender or food processor.  If you use a blender, listen carefully because it can get wrapped around the blade and wreck the unit.
Add eggs and blend some more.
Add garlic.  If your dog is a hard sell at baiting, add more.
Add Lipton dry soup and blend.

Find a Big bowl.  Dump liver mixture in bowl.  Slowly add the 3 cups of
oatmeal.

Grease a big cookie sheet and dump mixture on it.  Spread it around.  Its
like the consistency of brownies.  You can decide on the thickness of the
brownie by how you spread it around.  About 1 inch thick is right.

Cook at about 300 degrees for one hour.  Cut immediately, stick in plastic
sealing bag sprinkle with garlic powder, seal and freeze.

If you've got someone really sensitive to liver, you can add more oatmeal to
dilute the effect of the liver.

You can't make it with anything but oatmeal or it will disintegrate in your
pocket.  One pound of liver goes a long way with this.  Those of you who are
BARF fans could add other stuff  too--veggies and whatever.  Play with it.
